I’ll try to post as often as I can here and keep you all updated on what goes on at The Hive. From breeding, to what’s cooking in the incubator, to any upgrades we make on our collection.

Wow! I havent blog in a long, long time. I wonder if anyone actually reads this lol. Anyway, for the few of you that actually stop by to check out my site here is my official breeding plans, well most of it. So you guys can have an idea of what’s to come and save up for your next The Hive Reptiles’ snake.
I will hold back info on a few pairings since they might be world first combos (if I’m lucky enough to get them).
As you know the list is not long but full of top notch breeder quality specimens. I’m actually shooting for 9 clutches this year. I’m hoping on producing many hold back girls to replace my single gene morphs in the future. Its the only way to keep the collection small, I hate to let go of my girls.
Well here it is and dont forget to follow me on YouTube where I do my best to take video footage of each pairing.

Female x Male
Lemon Pastel Calico x Lesser Enchi, Phantom
Sable x Black Magic (one of my favorite pairings this season)
LSD x Lesser Enchi (I’m very positive the results will be outstanding)
Lemon Pastel x Phantom, Pastel Phantom
Lesser x Fire YB, Blackhead
YB x Black Pastel Hypo, Lesser Enchi
YB2 x Black Magic, Graziani Pastel Calico
Vanilla Mojave x Fire YB (same pairing as last year, why not. The results were unreal)
Mojave Hypo x Black Pastel Hypo (come’on Hypo Black Magics)
Super Mojave x Blackhead

I guess thats more than 9 but usually not all girls go and there are many virgins being use this year. Also if Im lucky I’m hoping on reproducing my trophy Graziani Pastel girl (R.I.P Beauty) late in the season. I kept 1.1 of her offspring and losing her was really painful, not to mention she was the best looking pastel I’ve ever seen. Pastels like her dont come around too often and her quality is near impossible to find nowadays. What ever happened to selective breeding???
Going through my list of breeder size/age snakes I have finally decided what I want to shoot for next year.
Once again most of my “breeding” group are virgin snakes... but I was 6 for 6 on pairings last season so I have high expectations for this new group of balls.
I don’t have many males that are ready. Most of my breeder males from last season are no longer in my collection (had to make room for upcoming males) and this limits my plans but after all I think it turned out pretty good.

These are the pairings I have in mind for the 2011-12 season:
Male x Female = Possible Offspring
Citrus Pastel x Yellow Belly = Citrus YBs which are HOT!
Citrus Pastel x Fire = Citrus Flies I havent seen any in person but I’m sure they’ll be amazing.
Phantom x Fire (same girl above) = Phantom Fires
Phantom x Lemon Pastel = Phantom Pastels... see where I’m going there...
Enchi x Lesser = Enchi Lessers I really want a few females to hold back.
Fire YB x Vanilla Mojave = Vanilla Cream YB Mojaves and everything in between!!
Phantom x Vanilla Mojave (same girl above) = Vanilla Potions. The Phantom will be my backup male. I really want the Fire YB to sire the clutch.
Any of the above males x Wide Stripe = we will see if her dorsal stripe and clean pattern is genetic. So far it looks like this big girl is scaring my males away.

Further down the season I will be working on probably one my coolest projects. I want the males to gain a few more grams before I introduce them to the ladies.
A “dark” project and a “light” project:
Dark Side:
Black Magic x Sable = this should be interesting

Light Side:
Enchi Lesser x Pastel Calico = pure hotness!!!
I cant wait to get these two projects going early next year.
You can see pictures of all of the above snakes on my collection page.
Happy breeding!

They’re the result of breeding a female Mojave with a male Black Pastel. We’ve seen the combo in pictures before but wow are they amazing! The two co-dom genes work really great with each other. We’re kind of sad that we had to let go of their mother but we can’t keep them all.
The first snake poked its head out on day 56 and we decided to cut the rest of the eggs to take a peek inside.
The odds were on our favor this time and we hatched three black magics, three mojaves, and one black pastel that looks just like its dad. We can’t wait to get these guys to size and put them with other combos.

How nice to see an ovulation this early in the year. The above female mojave was paired up with a lesser (now sold) and a black pastel since June of last year. Once a female ovulates it is guaranteed that she will lay eggs, lets just hope they will all turn out fertile and with good looking snakes.
The main thing I’m hoping to get is a solid white snake with blue eyes a.k.a Blue Eye Lucy. I’ve been wanting one since I started this hobby. A few black pastel mojaves wouldn’t hurt either.
